Season 2020

Races & Training.

The coming season is for me under a very special auspices, because before my first long distance ever, that was 2016 at the Challenge Roth, I've defined my sporting goals and dreams in a kind of master plan, the Agenda 2020 was born. A lot has happened since then, with some ups and downs and not always everything went according to plan, but that was somehow clear to me. Although doubt and sometimes even pure despair have been my constant companions during the past four years, I have never been deterred from going my own way, tortured myself in training and worked extremely hard for this big dream! And now "suddenly", the year 2020 is almost on the mat and I have to deliver. Therefore I have turned my plans for the races completely upside down compared to recent years and will try to get the much sought-after ticket for Kona and the Ironman World Championship at the beginning of the season at Ironman Ironman New Zealand. If I succeed in the beginning of March at Lake Taupõ actually, then I would be free in the head and could imagine as another highlight to go for the third time in Roth at the start. All good things come in threes, and I still have a bill for Challenge Roth, and taking my three starts in Wales should not be such a bad omen for me.  ___

Ironman.

My longing is from February Taupõ on the same crater lake, incidentally, the largest freshwater lake in the southern hemisphere. Taupõ has hosted Ironman New Zealand since 1999, a long track record at the other end of the world. The topography of the race, especially the very hilly bike course over two laps as a turning point course to the northeast over the Broadlands Road through the typical New Zealand green hilly landscape I like totally. And the final running track also leads as a turning point course over three laps directly on Lake Taupo along towards south, the turning point lies in Wharewaka. The destination is just like the transition area near the Yacht Club. Sonorous German names have already left their mark on New Zealand as winners, starting with Dirk Aschmoneit (1991), Stefan Holzner (1995 and 1996), Lothar Leder (1997) and most recently Thomas Hellriegel (2000). An absolute motivation for me and let's see what I can do here on the 7th of March 2020, I will definitely do my best!
